Background
GSL carried out testing for the purpose of flowsheet development of a brownfield tungsten project, which had been previously mined. The deposit typically contained coarse Wolframite in veins.
Method
- Coarse gravity separation with jigs.
- Fine gravity concentration with shaking tables.
- Magnetic separation on both feed and gravity concentrates.
Results
The ore very amenable to jigging as a preconcentrate separator with >90% recoveries in all size fractions and the fine gravity concentrate produced c. 60% WO3.
Magnetic separation on the tungsten concentrate increased grade to 63% WO3 with an overall recovery c. 70%. Magnetic separation on the feed produced high recoveries and was deemed a suitable primary recovery technique with the concentrate taken for further cleaning.
Outcome
GSL conducted testing for flowsheet development of a brownfield tungsten project and found that the material responded well to gravity and magnetic separation.
