Nick Wilshaw, Managing Director, reflects on current industry trends, growing demand and how GSL are looking to the future…
“With the Top 40 mining companies confirming the upswing in revenue, EBITDA and to a lesser extent capital spend I believe that it is fair to say we are at last on the upswing of the mining cycle.
Mining companies are still striving to drive down costs which is an area in which GSL focuses to enable our clients to get more for less with minimal capital spend. With ever increasing labour costs companies are striving to find efficiencies through technology our efforts in developing innovative solutions are designed to improve grades and recoveries whilst minimising costs.”

In July 2018 Arq, a new Entech company, announced GSL as their partner in launching the Arq Technology Centre here in Cornwall. By upgrading discarded coal fines it has the potential to substantially reduce the environmental footprint of mine sites.
“By establishing the Arq Technology Centre we have further enhanced our incredible strength in petroleum and coal chemistry with world class understanding of mineral processing and fine particle management to bridge these two great industries together.” Julian McIntyre, Arq CEO
“Arq is changing the outlook of the global energy industry. We are excited to partner with industry leaders from technology, science and energy at Arq and contribute our expertise and experience to make better use of the world’s resources.” Nick Wilshaw, GSL MD
Arq announced a deal with Vitol, the world’s leading independent oil trader, to distribute Arq Fuel™ globally and with Peabody, the leading global pure-play coal company and a member of the Fortune 500.
